- Elevation of 2,000 feet ensures clear, stimulating days and cool, restful nights in the Central Texas Hill Country. The Ranch is 400 acres with its own deep-drilled, artesian well-water system and fresh-water streams with limestone dams for swimming.
- Located 18 miles southwest of Kerrville on Highway 16; 1.5 hours north of San Antonio on I-10.
- Family-owned by two generations of the Friedman family. Founded in 1953 by Dr. and Mrs. S. Thomas Friedman. Current ownership by their children, Dr. Roger Friedman, Kinky Friedman and Marcie Friedman. Executive Staff: Executive Directors Roger Friedman, PhD and Roz Beroza Friedman, MSW.
- Ranch-style cabins, each with electricity and toilet facilities including commodes, sinks and showers with hot and cold water. Water system meets the highest approval standards.
- Limited enrollment maintains a moderate size so that each child's individuality is recognized and furthered within a group experience program
- Health & Safety features physician on call and fully equipped infirmary. Medication professionally stored and distributed by experienced, full-time Infirmary Coordinator. Camp Executive Directors Dr. Roger Friedman, psychologist, and Roz Beroza Friedman, LCSW, welcome ongoing communication with parents, physicians, psychiatrists or healthcare providers to ensure a successful summer experience.
- Ratio 4-to-1 (one counselor for every four youngsters). Highly qualified, carefully trained, closely supervised staff. Majority attended Echo Hill as campers. Counselors-in-Training program for campers ages 15-to-16 provides leadership training, orientation to camp philosophy, and fun, challenging, advanced camping experience.
- Kitchen facilities are state-approved and state-inspected. Equipped with extra-large coolers, deep-freeze, excellent baking and cooking appliances. Kosher-style, top-quality food served Family Style. Special dietary needs accommodated.
- Full aquatic program in two private swimming areas consisting of pure, running streams controlled by beautiful limestone dams. Expert staff trained by American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. American Red Cross classes and recreational swimming available.
- Horseback riding on a carefully selected string of horses owned by the Ranch. Expert instruction and supervision. Riding in ring and on beautiful, scenic trails.
- Jewish social environment, non-competitive camp program based on individual needs and abilities. Youngsters are helped to develop as individuals while participating in a group environment. Camper led services and home made challah served at Friday night dinners.
- Tutoring available by on-staff professional teachers for late summer and fall Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and in school subjects, language and speech processing problems, and reading skills.
- Creative & literary arts include candle-making, leatherwork, nature sketching, drawing, clay sculpting, camper-operated radio station (ECHO Radio), camper-run newspaper (The Ranch Review), camper-created and produced camp videos and dramas; sign language instruction.
- Back-to-basics outdoor activities include archery, riflery, swimming in fresh-water streams; climbing, hiking, horseback-riding on scenic trails; cooking, cookouts, hoedowns, nature study, singing, overnight campouts in scenic hideaways; basketball, gymnastics, soccer, softball, tetherball, ping-pong and tennis.
